Engaging Minds, Transforming Lives

Our Story

Trinity Christian School (TCS) was founded in 1981 by Trinity Presbyterian Church (TPC) with a vision for providing a quality Christian education for the Windward Oahu community. In that first year, 26 students were enrolled.TPC purchased a private residence in Maunawili Valley and transformed it into a campus with an elementary building (1986). By 1990, the school expanded to include preschool through sixth grade. Further construction occurred in 1998-99, including a new administration building with offices, library, computer lab, sanctuary, and a remodeled preschool.

TCS quickly gained a reputation for its Christ-centered mission, high quality educational programs, dedicated teaching staff, and involved parent community—all features that have carried on to this day. Families were blessed not only by the education of their children, but also by the heart-felt support of the TCS community. Students were known in the community for their God-honoring character and love for learning, and went on to succeed at the best secondary schools on Oahu. Waiting lists grew, and the opportunity to serve more families encouraged leaders to take another step of faith.

In 2007, in consultation with TPC and the TCS community, the School Board decided to expand and include a secondary school. Simultaneously, the School Board also chose to embrace a classical method and philosophy of education to provide a holistic vision for the school, improve the quality of education, and participate in a growing renewal of classical Christian education in America.

In the fall of 2008, the Secondary School opened with 7th and 8th Grades on the new Makai Campus. Elementary grades were split into two sections and limited to just 18 students per class. Teachers with classical convictions and experience migrated to Trinity, while others gained their classical training within the school. By June 2010, the school became a fully-accredited Preschool-12th Grade school by the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools (HAIS) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). In 2013, TCS successfully graduated its first senior class.

TCS has steadily expanded from its original 26 students to the current enrollment of 284 students and 230 families. TCS students have earned a favorable reputation, bearing witness of the love and grace of Christ in their communities.100% of all graduated students have been accepted to colleges and universities across the country and beyond. These graduates take with them a love of learning, and a faithful understanding of the Gospel, a sure foundation as they begin their journeys in life.
